The Bean Tree in central Harpenden offers high quality contemporary French cuisine in a relaxed and intimate setting together with great service. Situated in a converted 18th century coach house, the restaurant is well located near to the station and the town centre. The walled terrace garden is the perfect setting for a Summer lunch or dinner. Complementing the food is an excellent wine list. We also have live classic and romantic guitar every Wednesday and a monthly jazz night.

Set cosily in a converted cottage in the heart of Harpenden, The Bean Tree offers dedicated foodies a destination restaurant to visit again and again. The ambience is calm and relaxed with a stylish modern slant. There is a really lovely walled courtyard sheltered by an Indian bean tree -- hence the name -- where diners can enjoy themselves in the warmer months. The menu is French and no mistake. The Chef is passionate about the quality and freshness of his ingredients, and he takes great care with his sourcing. The seasonally-changing menu includes wonderful dishes and the wine list is blistering.

This stylish restaurant is head and shoulders above the local competition in Harpenden. The building which started life as a cottage, now provides a cool, calm setting for serious modern French cooking. A new menu structure means that customers can steer a course through the carte or pick out highlighted dishes for a fixed-price deal. The lengthy wine naturally gives France top billing, although there is good back up from the New World.
